Hair Envy: Vanessa Hudgens

Like most us Vanessa has an unfortunate case of "baby hairs" creeping up upon the front of her hairline. But really, it’s very doubtful that anyone would even notice the growth because they'll be too busy taking (hairspiration anyone?) pictures to send to their respective hairdressers. And I don't blame them! The balayage styled strands include a perfect blend of chestnut/golden hues that simply couldn't go unrecognised on the red carpet at the Season 2 premiere of The Carrie Diaries, which she attended in support of her boyfriend Austin Butler.

I hate to sound like an absolute cow, but truth be told I’ve always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Vanessa’s Style.

However, despite the tacky belly ring (I’m sorry, I just don’t like them. Let alone the dangly ring she’s rocking), I actually adore this outfit!

Military Chic: Vee's outfit breakdown.

  •  Military coat, while its officially spring in Sydney, the weather is still going from one extreme to the other, so bring your khaki coat back out to play!
  • Black trousers, I recommend a pair of staple trousers from either Zara  Country Road, purely because of their fit/quality/value for money.
  • Leopard print cropped tee or alternatively a shirt for those of us who don't have washboard abs.
  • Glowing Tan, slip, slop, and slap, but be sure to book yourself into a tanning salon to complete this look.

Do you have a massive case of hair envy now? That's right, I knew you would.

Wogarella,

Xx

Hair Inspiration: Alicia Keys

It's no secret that I am completely and utterly obsessed with Miss Alicia Keys. There's something so humble about her spirit that draws me to her. Oh and not to mention that incredible voice she seems to easily project. A few years ago I hoped that one day, because just like Mariah and herself, I have a husky voice that maybe, by some bizarre chance of fate I may awake with a glass shattering voice. For all the right reasons of course. Sadly, it never happened. I'm musically inept. I'm working on the tone deafness, I've even been practicing my guitar playing skills. Maybe it's my fault for listening to ladies who have voices which project 5 Octave ranges! Or maybe the singing Gods hate me. Who knows, but in reality, I can't even hit one note. Not high, nor low. The voice cracks if I'm singing a bloody Kesha song, absolutely hopeless.

As I came to the realisation that I just couldn't mirror their voices, I gave up. Until one day a friend of mine told me I reminded her of Miss A Keys herself. Needless to say, she actually made my year. 2011, it was a great one. Ha, I'm deluded I know! She's clearly of African American and Italian decent whilst my parents are Middle Eastern, so the comparison was nothing but a sweet compliment.

However, ever since, I have tried my very best to channel her style. Whilst she's not high on the best dressed nor worded dressed list, I appreciate her funky sense of style, whether it be her edgy studded jeans or fabulous smokey eyes, which only accentuate her already beautiful almond shaped eyes.

Girl crush aside, I noticed an image of my girl rocking a trendy cropped bob recently. Please refer to photo below.

Whadayathink?

I LOVE IT. Whilst I know that mirroring her corn rows would've been an awkward move, it got me thinking... Could I possibly get away with a cropped do? In the past I would say no, clearly because I was rocking my natural fro', however since the amazing advancement in haircare has brought me Keratin, I'm actually considering the unthinkable, getting a dramatic hair-cut.

I've lost a fair amount of weight over the past few months, particularly in my upper body. So I'm not really worried about having a blown-up face. But am I crazy for wanting to cut off my long locks?

I know guys, haven't posted in a while and the first one I do is a self indulgent one. But hey, who ever said blogging wasn't about self reflection?

Maybe I should just stick to buying Alicia's CD's and singing at the top of my lungs with the car windows wound-up like a mad woman.

To Straighten or not to Straighten?!

Wogarella has been faced with a little dilemma as of late.  In fact some would  call it a first world problem. And in case you're wondering, it's not the fact that I have started referring to myself in third person.

You see I was born with curly locks. And growing up I hated them, but once I turned about 16 years of age and slowly toned down my tomboy antics, I realised that maybe my curls weren’t such a curse after all.

But the problem is, I use a number of products to maintain it, and although I pride myself on looking after it, before I know it a whole year has passed and I haven’t even thought to get a cut, because to be honest, I hardly notice split ends as my hair is relatively healthy. But every time I have an event and I get a blow-dry, I stop and think that maybe, just maybe my thick luscious hair is actually quite pretty when it’s straight. Lord knows it appeals to a lot more people. But the thing is, as much as I like taking in other people’s opinions, I usually just stick to my guns and keep my virginal hair in the same style, only allowing my hairdresser to trim it, after making a deal with him whereby he swears to save as much length of my tresses whilst sitll making use of his scissors.

I love my curls, I really do, and after all they embody my crazy personality. Only for once in my life, I feel as though I am ready for a change. Specifically as winter has graced us, getting up to wash my hair every morning isn’t something I’m too enthusiastic about. So dear friends, I put this out to you, do you believe I should go ahead with an organic treatment whereby my hair will be appear 60% smoother and straighter?

I know some of you are reading this shaking your heads because your hair has probably seen every shade of the rainbow, but mine is still the same colour, only a little more mature than my date of birth of course. And that is something I doubt I’ll ever change, because thanks to the Good Lord I have been blessed with a decent hair colour, which just fits so well with my olive skin tone.

So really, can you please help a sister out?! I’ve booked my three and a half hour session at a reputable hair salon for Wednesday night. I’ve been told the treatment will last approximately 5-6 months and won’t harm my curls in the process as opposed to the chemicals used in the generic keratin products that have been publicised recently.

Now before you make up your mind, I’ve included some visual aid of both my natural fuzzball and a fresh blow-dry. PS Please don’t judge the fact that I have no make up in the straight haired pic!!

Lots of love,

Wogarella Xx
